At Adaptive Freedom Foundation, we believe everyone deserves to feel the sun on their skin, the thrill of movement in the water, and the support of a community that truly sees them. We create inclusive ocean experiences for people with disabilities, offering the freedom to paddle, float, and connect on the open water. Our signature WASUP™ boards (Wheelchair Adapted Stand-Up Paddle boards) are built to do what once seemed impossible—get a wheelchair on a paddle board, safely and securely out on the ocean.
Through our Paddle With a Buddy program, we also welcome individuals who don’t use a wheelchair but may need extra support—pairing them with trained volunteers on standard paddle boards to share the joy, healing, and adventure of the ocean. Each beach day is more than just an event—it’s a celebration of freedom, belonging, and possibility. We bring together volunteers, families, and adaptive athletes to build a connected community rooted in empowerment and inclusion.
Whether you’re a parent looking for a safe, joyful experience for your child, a volunteer seeking meaningful ways to give back, or a donor who believes in breaking down barriers—you belong here. If we can float a wheelchair, on a paddle board, on the water, then our only limitation for inclusion and empowerment within participation for people is our imagination.
And it’s all completely free, powered by love, imagination, and the generous support of our 501(c)(3) nonprofit partners and community.
