Why AFF exists
The obstacle should never be a lack of access
Adaptive Freedom Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps people with disabilities experience paddleboarding with the equipment and support that make participation possible. The work begins on the water and carries into confidence, connection, and belonging.

Adaptive paddleboarding
A Paddle Day is an event. This is how it works.
Paddle Days bring AFF’s adaptive equipment and volunteer crew together for a day on the water. Find scheduled Paddle Days alongside our community gatherings on the Events page.
Wheelchair-adapted paddleboarding
WASUP™ equipment secures your wheelchair to a stable adapted board. A trained paddler, buddy volunteers, and the shore team coordinate your launch.
Paddle with a buddy
For people who need balance or paddling support, a buddy helps make the experience comfortable and welcoming. No previous paddling experience is needed for participants.
Your day, your pace
Paddle sessions are typically about 45 minutes on the water. Equipment and safety gear are provided, and families and caregivers are welcome.
Before your first paddle
Bring a towel and clothes that can get wet. AFF provides paddle equipment, personal flotation devices, safety support, drinking water, sunscreen, and lunch at Paddle Days. Check your event’s details for arrival, check-in, and orientation information.
